Earlier this year, Grifford, an Arizona native and 2007 SGML graduate, learned the Glendale Corps of the Salvation Army needed a roof to replace a failing structure the group was operating out of at 61st and Northern avenues in the West Valley. The effort to organize and implement a construction plan would swell to involve 25 different companies and reap close to $100,000 in donated labor, materials andsweat—all to benefit the Salvation Army.

VOl. 8, Number 3 "Our Mission Is Your Success" May / June, 2007 It all started with an e-mail from Dan Grifford, owner of Distinctive Services, Inc. Dan sent out a call for help from fellow ARCA members to assist the Salvation Army with a roofing project. The Salvation Army had received bids in excess of $100,000 to re-roof 6 buildings at their Glendale complex. Needless to say; the Salvation Army did not have the funds ncessary to accomplish the work required.

A Roof for Givers

Dan Grifford, vice president of Distinctive Service, roofing division, points to one of the five buildings on the Salvation Army campus at 61st and Northern avenues that was re-roofed recently. Grifford helped organize a coalition of 24 roofing companies to repair the badly leaking roofs at a cost of about $100,000, all donated to the Salvation Army.
